Du 30 novembre au 12 décembre 2015 se déroulera sous les auspices parisiens la COP21 ou, pour faire long, la Conférence des Nations unies sur les changements climatiques.

Pourquoi ce feed ?

Pour la société civile, que ce soit sur le terrain ou sur les réseaux sociaux, cette conférence a déjà commencé depuis longtemps. On l’a vu naître, se former, émerger ces dernières semaines et leurs campagnes de communication semblent nous promettre une série riche et diversifiée d’évènements, d’actions et de manifestations. Leur objectif, mobiliser autour du changement climatique.

Mais entre temps, il y a eu les attentats tragiques du vendredi 13 novembre… Et avec eux, l’instauration de l’état d’urgence sur le sol français et l’interdiction temporaire de toutes manifestations sur la voie publique. Les acteurs de la société civile, associations, artistes, journalistes, activistes et citoyens ne sont pas restés les bras ballants : renoncer à manifester, non, en changer la forme, oui. Actions symboliques, mises en réseau des acteurs via les réseaux sociaux et autres plateformes, voire désobéissance, sont à l’ordre du jour.

Pour donner de la visibilité et de la portée à ces actions qui, pour certaines, ne pourront voir le jour sur la voie publique, l’image n’a jamais été aussi nécessaire. OAI13 partage, deux semaines durant, une sélection d’images publiées sur les réseaux sociaux par les acteurs de la société civile ou par ceux (photographes !) qui sont les témoins de leurs actions. Ces images sont choisies, non pas dans l’optique de prendre parti, mais dans celle de prêter nos yeux à celles ayant un impact visuel fort ou significatif, et que ces yeux ne soient pas ceux d’un homme, mais de sociétés plurielles et dynamiques. Vous n’avez plus qu’à scroller !

The Kayapó face the destruction of their homeland as a result of the construction of the Belo Monte dam, the third largest in the world on the Xingu River, a tributary to the Amazon. "What are we doing as Indigenous peoples? We are protecting the very balance of the Mother Earth. We hope that you can understand that. We hope that you understand that." A reference to the 'rights of Indigenous peoples' has been cut from the main text of a draft UN agreement following the conclusion of a round of talks headed by negotiators for the countries around the table. Indigenous delegates and activists attending the conference have denounced the decision. Currently, the preamble of the draft text includes a reference to the rights of Indigenous peoples and the reference is also included in Annex 2 accompanying the document. The Annex 2 list of inserts in the article of the draft agreement that would also hold the reference to Indigenous peoples includes recognition human rights and gender equality, along with the right of “peoples under occupation.” The COP21 concludes on Dec. 11th and the deal must be ratified by the legislative bodies of the signatories. #climatechange #COP21 #COP21Paris #amazon @amazonwatch #UnitedNations #ActonClimate

Deforestation in Papua New Guinea has been extensive in recent decades and is continuing at an estimated rate of 1.4% of tropical forest being lost annually. It is mainly a result of illegal logging, which contributed to 70-90% of all timber exports, one of the highest rates in the world. Almost one third of the country has been leased to foreign logging companies, many on century-long agreements. Dozens of logging firms have signed land deals under a government scheme called Special Agriculture and Business Leases (SABLs). With the SABL scheme, foreign companies have found a new and relatively easy way to open new areas for logging. Nearly all logs are being exported to China. As a result of the active logging, some provinces of Papua New Guinea are now facing loss of biodiversity, as many species lose their habitat or can no longer live in the small fragments of forests that are left. New roads that provide access to settlers and loggers into the PNG forests cause widespread fragmentation of rainforests. These fragmented landscapes cannot support wildlife the same way intact habitats do, and the area become more vulnerable to droughts and fires. Modified climate and loss of water cycling affect not only animals, but also people that live in logging areas. Deforestation reduces the critical water cycling services provided by trees. When rainfall reduction is added to the natural variability that characterises rainfall in the region, the resulting droughts may have major environmental impacts. With around 82 million kilowatt hours the power plant can cover the annual needs of 23,500 households. Solar power is considered so far one of the best solution to produce clean energy. Qui suivons-nous ?

Nous suivons sur Twitter, Facebook et Instagram des hashtags et comptes fédérateurs qui permettent de suivre en ligne les actions visuelles mises en place par la société civile, que celles-ci aient lieu à Paris ou ailleurs :

– @/#Climat21 : Hashtag initié par la « Coalition Climat 21 ». Cette coalition, qui organise les mobilisations citoyennes autour de la COP21, réunit 130 organisations de la société civile autour de la lutte contre le
dérèglement climatique.

– @/#Artofchange21 : « Art of Change 21 » est une association rassemblant 21 artistes, entrepreneurs sociaux et de l’économie post-carbone et jeunes leaders impulsant de nouvelles formes de mobilisation originaires de 12 pays différents. Créée dans l’optique de la COP21, elle y mettra en oeuvre plusieurs actions artistiques et participatives, à l’instar de #Maskbook. Pour faire vivre ce projet de sensibilisation sur le lien santé-pollution-climat, chacun est invité à créer, lors d’ateliers ou chez soi, son propre masque.

– @/#SolutionsCOP21 : Compte twitter du Grand Palais pour la COP21. Du 4 au 10 décembre, l’institution culturelle organise une exposition ouverte permettant au public de rencontrer associations, artistes,
chercheurs, villes, entreprises. Ateliers et autres évènements seront à l’ordre du jour.

– @PlaceToBcop21 et #P2BCop21 : « Place To Be » est un espace de co-travail rassemblant du 30 novembre au 11 décembre journalistes, activistes, artistes, photographes, développeurs web et écrivains notamment. On y trouve, entre autres choses, la « Creative Factory » : tout un chacun (inscrit au préalable) peut y imaginer, au gré des rencontres et des collaborations, des solutions et moyens de communication créatifs répondant à des thèmes précis. – #WeAreTheClimateGeneration : initiée par l’agence de communication responsable DoNotSmile (@DNS_network), cette campagne de sensibilisation européenne au changement climatique publie les portraits de trois générations de familles belges, danoises, françaises, allemandes, italiennes, turques, britanniques. Sept photographes ont participé au projet. Vous pouvez également y participer en important votre propre photo sur leur site Internet.

– #ClimateGames est un hashtag permettant de suivre les « Climate Games », réseau mondial de militants qui partagent en ligne les actions réalisées en équipe durant la COP21. Son slogan : « Nous ne nous
battons pas pour la nature. Nous sommes la nature qui se défend. »

En réaction à l’annulation de la Marche Mondiale pour le Climat initialement organisée à Paris dimanche 29 novembre suite à l’interdiction de manifester en Île-de-France, des alternatives sont nées. Les voici :

– #March4me et #IMarch4U : née suite à l’annulation de la Marche Mondiale pour le Climat, cette action permet, grâce à la plateforme march4me, à un parisien de demander à des citoyens
du monde entier de marcher pour lui. Un projet photo rassemblant les couples de marcheurs est prévu.

– #eyesonParis, #ClimateChange : si vous êtes à Paris durant la COP21, vous pouvez publier sous ce hashtag une photo de vos yeux afin de les prêter à ceux qui ne pourront s’y rendre. Ce projet est initié par l’association de lutte contre la pauvreté @oxfamfrance.

– @/#MarcheClimat (#Climatemarch, #WeMarche4You) : hashtag(s) permettant de suivre les actions organisées partout dans le monde pour contourner l’interdiction de marcher à Paris.

– #OperationChaussures : cette action, initiée par le mouvement @Avaaz, a donné lieu samedi 28 novembre, à un déferlement de chaussures sur la place de la République et dans les rues avoisinantes, au nord Est de Paris.

– #Brandalism : @BrandalismUK est un collectif d’artistes international fondé à Londres il y a trois ans. Leur moyen d’action consiste principalement à mêler publicité et subversion. À l’occasion de la COP21, ils ont détourné 600 publicités des marques sponsors de l’événement qu’ils ont ensuite affiché dans les panneaux initialement prévus pour de vraies pubs sur les abribus parisiens.
